Society Hill, Philadelphia

In collaboration with architecture firm Rasmussen/Su, CMAA worked with a young professional family to source artworks for their new Philadelphia home. The starting point for the project was the family’s existing interest in and excitement about contemporary art. Shown here from left to right: Rebekah Callaghan, Blue Works (2021) and Bethann Parker, Green Pastures (top) and Strawman (both 2020).

Over time, the collectors’ affinities have emerged—an interest in women artists, whimsical subjects and artists with a lyrical hand. CMAA helped the collectors identify these interests by observing what they were naturally drawn to; then those interests were named and explored. Together with the collectors, CMAA has continued to suggest new artworks for acquisition within those contours, occasionally pushing their boundaries.
